Loan Comparison FAQs
Common questions about comparing loan offers
How do I compare two loans? ›
Enter the loan amount, interest rate and tenure for each loan in the two columns above. The calculator instantly shows the EMI, total interest and total payable for both, and highlights which loan costs less overall. This lets you compare offers from two banks, or the same loan at two different tenures or rates.
Should I choose the loan with the lower EMI or lower total interest? ›
It depends on your priority. A longer tenure gives a lower monthly EMI but a higher total interest cost. A shorter tenure raises the EMI but saves a lot of interest. If cash flow is tight, pick the affordable EMI; if you want to minimise total cost, pick the lower total interest. This tool shows both so you can decide.
Does a 0.5% lower interest rate really matter? ›
Yes, significantly. On a ₹50 lakh, 20-year home loan, dropping the rate from 9% to 8.5% lowers the EMI by roughly ₹1,600/month and saves over ₹3.8 lakh in total interest. Always compare the exact numbers — small rate differences compound into large amounts over long tenures.
Can I compare a home loan with a personal loan? ›
Yes. Just enter each loan's amount, rate and tenure. Keep in mind that home loans have lower rates and longer tenures, while personal loans have higher rates and shorter tenures, so the EMIs and total costs will differ accordingly. This is useful when deciding how to finance a large expense.
Is a balance transfer worth it? ›
Compare your current loan (Loan A) with the new lender's offer (Loan B), using the outstanding amount and remaining tenure. If Loan B's total payable is meaningfully lower even after processing and transfer fees, the balance transfer is worth it. A rate gap of 0.5% or more on a long remaining tenure usually makes it worthwhile.
